But this one amazing cause tugs at my heart so so much…
It’s for children needing to be adopted…
We photograph these amazing kids and then people can go onto the site and see who they may adopt.

It made me so happy when I got the news that this girl was adopted because the family said they could really see her personality in the pictures… I remember photographing her and we had so much fun! I made her feel so special and told her if she ever wanted to shadow me one day to learn about how to run a business, I would be more than happy.

then one day I was asked how I felt about photographing this girl… She was very disabled and blind… of course I was fine with it and gosh I think I cried the entire way home… She was very sweet and broke my heart. I wanted to make all of her disabilities go away and let her be a little girl again… the little girl that she could never be…
well… someone saw this little girl and wanted to love her and show her a better life…

and recently this sweet little family really hit me hard this winter… in a good way.
During our holiday sessions I love to, like always, talk with kids through my lens… it’s how I get those natural shots… of course during the holidays I start talking about Santa Clause and if they are being good… what are they wanting for Christmas… for Hanukkah… but with this family it was different and they totally woke me up and made me see things differently.
These sisters and brother came in to our studio and were SO excited for me to take their pictures! They had never done this before and I could see their excitement and I really wanted them to feel special!
They were waiting for each other to change and get ready… while waiting they were looking at our albums of families…

I never saw children look so closely before at my pictures… examining each person’s face… how they laughed… how they held their children… how the children smiled…
Then it hit me and I still have to gulp it down…
This is what they wanted… a family…
someone to hold them, laugh with them, spin them in circles, carry them on their shoulders, and wipe their tears when they are so sad… that’s all they wanted…
The little boy said softly to his big sister as he smiled and pointed with so much hope…
“this is the family that I want us to have…”
I seriously couldn’t get that sentence out of my head the entire shoot… and this Christmas along with so many things happening in our lives I was thankful for these sweet children for teaching me so much! such a big lesson! I shared their story with our own children… and tried to explain it to them the best I could…
These are those beautiful children…
and I hope their dreams come true…
