I had the absolute honor of photographing this beautiful woman last week. Her name is Wendy and she is amazing! She is battling Parkinson’s Disease… We did this shoot for a fantastic charity event that will be held November 1st to benefit Parkinson’s Disease put on by Neuro Challenge. Here is a link to this event… it will be an art exhibit of photographs of these amazing, kind, people that have Parkinson’s Disease.
I was a little bit unaware of this disease… I knew what it was but I did not know anyone who has been affected by this… until I met Wendy… she was such a pleasure to be with… she has so much happiness inside… her therapist was there too and explained that someone with Parkinson’s feels like they have so much life but are trapped inside of this body that doesn’t function the way they want it to… I couldn’t imagine how frustrating that must be… Then I met her mother… her mother was so caring for Wendy… I watched as she fixed her hair just so… helped close her mouth… to have a grown child that you love and care for so much and only want the best for… to see them being held back by such a terrible disease at such a young age … well oh the tears came as I was shooting and I tried so hard to hide behind my camera… but each time I sniffled I am sure they could feel my passion for capturing this for them… Her mother gave Wendy a photograph of her husband (Wendy’s father) who had passed away… I watched as Wendy clenched the photograph… I watched her try so hard to smile… she held it close to her and kept staring at her father in the photograph… I love my job… I love my job… L O V E Nothing brings me such joy in a way I can’t describe as when I see someone holding a memory and reliving and remembering through a photograph… to capture that laugh, to capture that embrace… it’s a way for me to help you relive, enjoy that time… enjoy your life!
event coordinated by Kangaroo Promotions!
